📘 Reported Speech Special Rules in English Grammar (Bangla Explanation)
Reported speech বা Narration নিয়ে পড়ার সময় অনেক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নিয়ম আমরা এড়িয়ে যাই। নিচে কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ Reported Speech Special Rules দেওয়া হলো, যা বিভিন্ন প্রতিযোগিতামূলক পরীক্ষায় আসতে পারে।
✅ Rule 1: একই বক্তার একাধিক Assertive Sentence থাকলে
যদি একই বক্তা একাধিক assertive sentence বলে, তবে ২য় Sentence থেকে ব্যবহার করতে হয়:
👉 added that, again said that, অথবা further added that.
📝 Example:
Direct: Tuhin said to me, “I am going to Dhaka. I will meet him.”
Indirect: Tuhin said to me that he was going to Dhaka and added that he would meet him.
✅ Rule 2: একই বক্তার একাধিক Interrogative Sentence থাকলে
এক্ষেত্রে ২য় sentence থেকে ব্যবহার হয়:
👉 also asked, again asked, further asked.
📝 Example:
Direct: He said to the old man, “Why do you beg? Can’t you work?”
Indirect: He asked the old man why he begged and also asked if he couldn’t work.
✅ Rule 3: Vocative Case থাকলে
Reported Speech–এ vocative case (যেমন: Mom, Sir, Friend) থাকলে, বাক্যের শুরুতে লিখতে হয়:

📝 Example:
Direct: He said to his mother, “I will not go to school today, mom.”
Indirect: Addressing her as mom, he said to his mother that he would not go to school that day.
✅ Rule 4: “Yes” থাকলে
"Yes" থাকলে, reporting verb এর জায়গায় লিখতে হয়:
👉 replied in the affirmative
এবং পরে and said that … ব্যবহার করতে হয়।
📝 Example:
Direct: He said, “Yes, I have done it.”
Indirect: He replied in the affirmative and said that he had done it.
✅ Rule 5: “No” থাকলে
"No" থাকলে, reporting verb এর জায়গায় লিখতে হয়:
👉 replied in the negative
এবং পরে and said that … ব্যবহার করতে হয়।
📝 Example:
Direct: He said, “No, I have not done it.”
Indirect: He replied in the negative and said that he had not done it.
✅ Rule 6: “Sir” থাকলে
"Sir" থাকলে, indirect narration–এ respectfully ব্যবহার করতে হয়।
📝 Example:
Direct: He said to me, “May I come in, Sir?”
Indirect: He respectfully wished me that he might come in.
